Get a private tour of a remote, picturesque New England lighthouse!
From the Portland Jetport, we immediately climb over the Fore River toward downtown Portland. You’re treated to awesome views of the historic Old Port, Portland Sea Dogs Stadium, Back Cove, and the Eastern Promenade.
Upon leaving the downtown area, we head out into the bay, first passing by Fort Allen, Fort Gorges, Bug Lighthouse, and Fort Scammel on House Island. We then head out toward the center of the bay with views of Fort Levett and Ram Island Ledge Lighthouse.
After our approach to Halfway Rock Lighthouse for some great pictures from above, we descend for a landing on a remote two-acre rock ledge. Follow our pilot up the rocks to the lighthouse entrance or explore the ledge yourself. Discover the lighthouse keeper’s quarters, kitchen, various levels in the tower including a bedroom and an office, and of course the top catwalk and light room.
Enjoy breathtaking views from the top of the granite tower, or kick up your feet and relax on the back deck. Have your camera ready, though, because you’re sure to see plenty of seals playing in the water while you enjoy a refreshing ocean breeze.
This lighthouse has been meticulously restored to the 1950s era and has many great surprises. After some exploring or relaxing, we climb back into the helicopter and head back to Portland.
Along the way, we take in views of numerous islands, Freeport, Yarmouth and Harpswell, Maine, as well as Cape Elizabeth and Portland Head Light. The tour concludes with a trip by Back Cove and Portland before landing at the jetport.
This private tour includes approximately 30 minutes on the island and a 10-15 minute flight each way. Due to the uneven and rocky terrain at the lighthouse, we recommend wearing a comfortable pair of walking shoes.
